Summer Cuties

Tia's Tips: Come join the group! For years I was crafting and creating ALONE (what a lonely place to be!) I took a class here and there, learned some techniques from the folks at the craft & art stores and thought I was good. I wasn't a big fan of "social-media", but there is a great-big, beautiful, gracious, giving, knowing, teaching, supporting, caring, inspiring, silly, KICK-ASS community out there! Join a group, join many groups! Follow your friends, follow strangers, follow the work that speaks to you, follow work different from yours and similar. But GET OUT THERE and meet some new creatives you can inspire and be inspired by today.

THE PROJECT:

I love summer and what perfect timing by C. C. Designs with this adorable new stamp set-"Summer Cuties"! I have so many great summer memories spending time at the pools with my big brother. When I saw this set, that's exactly where it took me. Laughter, love, fun and sun!

I took a tip from fellow crafter: #itsacardknocklife and used gold colored embossing powder to create some golden sand! Awhile ago, I did some flowers for a friend's wedding and still have leftover 'Champagne Crushed Glass Glitter" from Stampendous-I used it to give additional texture and dimension to the sand.

I decided on a fun fold card-thought these cuties needed to be enjoyed standing up all the time.

I am a 'pick my papers first' kinda gal. I knew I wanted some beachy-water paper and found a sheet of design paper with waves and water drops. I fussy cut the waves so they would really stand-out. They also come up higher than the fold typically does, which allowed me to place my "sand" higher up behind the waves and feature my focal image closer to the top fold. I loved having the little girl pop off the card too. I was fortunate enough to have in my stash the 'Summer Mood Collection' from BoBunny, that had a sheet of pinwheels! I then based my marker selection off these design papers. I used a tag that had sand-castles on it, I cut them out and popped up with foam dots to complete my scene.
