Spring Has Sprung

Tia's Tips: As all the beauty of Spring get's underway, now is the time for you to get out! Just like your mom told you to, or maybe you are telling your kids now, "Get outside!".

Take pictures of all the Spring beauty around you, all the buds, full blooms and color. And then use these photos in your art. You will be able to look back at your own photos full of light, shadow and color to use as a reference to bring all that beauty and color onto your cards.

The Projects:

I love this image! But really wanted to do something more than color it, I wanted to highlight the different pieces of it that sang out-"Spring is here". I found the smallest die I had (well-almost the smallest), and moved around my stamped image until I found the "snapshot" I wanted. Initially, I thought I would put each image over a new stamped image, but then realized I could pop-up each snap-shot on a piece of double-foam tape back into it's original cut-out space.

I accented the 'snapshots', by penciling the background in monotone shades of gray. Wow! did my Prismacolor pencils get a workout on this project.

Pencils Used:

Geraniums: Warm Grays

Pitcher: Cool Grays

Birds: French Grays

I used my editing software- Pixlr to create my own original sentiment.

Copics Used:

Sky: B000, B00 Pitcher:C1; C3

Bees: Y08; B60 & multiliner

Geraniums: YG61; G28; RV14; R27; R37; R39; RV99

PROJECT #2:

Stampendous generously gave us 2 images to work with! For my 2nd card, I went with a Z-Fold card-with an extra overlay.

There are Z-cards you can buy, and tons of tutorials on YouTube to show you how. They are very fast & easy. And are another beautiful way to make a creative statement.

I masked the image, so I could feature this sweet little mouse by himself. I really could have stopped my card right there.

But who could really pass up coloring the entire group of "rose-players"! I couldn't make up my mind on just one rose color either, so went with a beautifully diverse garden full of color!

Copics Used:

Sky:B00; B000

Leaves: YG03; G43; YG61; YG17; G94

Roses:Y00; Y04; Y11; Y21; E50; E51; E53; R11; R42; R35; R37; R56; R43; R35; R83; RV34; RV11; RV10; RV23; R83; R43

I had picked out the design paper ahead of coloring and cut it down so I had room for my sentiment. And really chose colors to go along with it.

As Spring begins all over the country, I hope you will all get out and enjoy it's beauty!
