It's Summertime

1991 Hit Song-Summertime

Welcome friends! The design team at Riley and Company was having one of our fun and wacky team meetings when Owner/Designer/Queen silly herself challenged us to a Summer Celebration card. Uh-challenge accepted!

With SO MANY great summer themed stamps and dies from Riley and Company, I knew this challenge would be a breeze...a tropical breeze!

I hit my stash and couldn't decide on which cutie Riley stamp to play with. Then my muse hit me with lyrics "summer, summer, summertime". It was then I knew which stamps to use!

I did manage to stay with in the typical slimline card size of 8.5x3.5 for this card. I do have in my stash a set of 'pop-up stage dies from the now closed company-Stampendous. Do some internet surfing and you may still be able to find the set, but it's not necessary. With a ruler, craft knife and bone folder, you could also make these pop-ups (again-lots of YouTube tutorials out there!)

I used 2 matching sheets of design paper from Doodlebug Designs Inc.-Fun In the Sun.

I used 'Surf Stripe' for the inside liner. Here, I decided the order of my stamps and depth.

It made sense for Cocktail Floatie Riley to be closer than Hammock Riley, but I really wanted BBQ Riley up close.

If using the 'stage dies', I used #2, #3 and #5.

After coloring my images, I did take the painstaking time to fussy cut each one.

My sentiments came from an older Cricut cartridge-Cuttin' Up. You can easily use any letter dies/stickers or stamps you have.

I expanded the pool of water around Cocktail Floatie Riley. I free hand cut the mound of sand and added some sand under Hammock Riley. I did use a grass die (sorry, can't remember who/working on this!) again, lots of options out there-and did this more to hide the pop-out holding up BBQ Riley.

The liner is only 8x6, because I needed it to feed into my die-cutting machine. If you freehand cut your pop-outs, the liner could fit the entire card size.

The card front was covered with 'Island Blooms'-again from Doodlebug Design Inc.

I die cut a white oval and the sentiment again from Cricket's Cuttin' Up cartridge.

I accented both sides with Riley and Company's-Hello Flowers Cut-Ups.

I only realized afterwards that I forgot to glue in centers! But something to stive for next time-LOL!

Thank you SO much for hanging out and following along with this fun summertime invitation card! If you get inspired to create one of your own, make sure to share it on the Riley and Company Fan Page so I can see it! Or give me a tag!

I'd love it if you'd scroll down to the bottom of the page and follow me.
