Tia's Tips: Fast fixes for gorgeous backgrounds-it's know as Design Paper. I am guilty of doing it myself. Spending time inking up a scene to go with my focal image. But there are times when you just don't have the time! You can still achieve a beautiful backdrop to your image by creating the scene with well selected design papers! Fussy cutting your focal image will help to merge it with the design paper for a gorgeous creation!

THE PROJECT:

One of my favorite things about card making is having "love-notes" at the ready for my husband and son! After 2 years of health, the dreaded COVID found our house! Well, my husband anyway. Thankfully his bout with the virus was very mild. In that time I wanted a little card to cheer him up and after all, he is the Pooh to my Piglet. So this image was just perfect for what I wanted to create.

What I created was a super fast and easy card. I didn't have a lot of time to watercolor a background, so instead I used design papers that were water color backgrounds (From Momenta-picked up in my local art store). I inked the focal image and fussy cut it. I lined it up in an area of the design paper (DP) I liked best and taped my deckle die in place. I used the same die for the DP and then for the bottom and sides of my focal image.

On a piece of copy paper, I selected several font sizes of the sentiment and printed out. I then ran repositionable tape under my water paper DP and placed it over the sentiment and re-ran it thru my printer.

I selected a clean white background-so the watercolor would really pop! I attached the water color paper and adhered the focal image on-top and was DONE!

I confess, not all of my cards come together this quickly or beautifully! Don't let the Copic work on this card fool you either-all the colors blended quickly and I think give it that illustrated look rather than crisp and clean.
