Tia's Tips: When prepping to create a card, it helps to think about it in layers. 1st-Focal Image or images. 2nd-card design or layout; think about balance, movement and shapes that will add focus to your image. 3rd-General colors you want to use for the focal image or for the card theme. I still stand by the idea that it is easier and more gratifying to pick your design papers first, then match your inks to it!

I love the company name of sponsor Your Next Stamp! It is SO clever! Seriously such great stuff in their store!!! Go check them out-and don't blame me for your full cart!

The Project:

This clear stamp made me laugh as soon as I saw it! It is the only image in the set and come with 7-sentiments! But I also picked up a sentiment stamp set called Whatnot Sentiments Eleven-and the Best Friends sentiment is from there. I just really wanted to send this monkey face to one of my BFF's.

I could have stopped with the 3 x 4 1/2" card, but then realized I had this cute background paper full of emojis! And I love the dark background really makes the card & monkeyface pop off the card!

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. card base, where I stamped the sentiment and the monkeyface.

I stamped the monkeyface again on another piece of coloring cardstock and die cut it out. Yeah! No fussy cutting! I then colored it with Copics.

Next, I used Tumbled Glass distress ink around the card base to tie in with the phone background.

The card felt a little flat, so I die cut a piece of red cardstock with a wonky stitch die from Whimsey stamps and then used my Kraft knife to cut away the inside-thus creating a red frame. The frame helps pull your eye to the phone.

I taped the emoji paper to my card base, attached the sentiment base with foam tape and lastly attached the monkeyface with foam tape to the sentiment base. So, all in all there are 3 layers to the card.

COPICS USED:

Monkey-E31; E34; E23

Phone-R22; R14; R24

Background-B00

Thanks for following along! Take time today and create a card for your BFF!
